The Unwanted Heiress (The Archer Family Regency Romances) (Volume 1)

An American heiress nobody wants; a duke every woman desires; and a murder no one expects. When Nathaniel, Duke of Peckham, meets Charlotte, he’s suspicious of her indifference. Too many women have sought–and failed–to catch him. Happily, Charlotte is more interested in dead pharaohs than English dukes and laughs at both him and his suspicions. Her resistance crumbles, however, when a debutante seeking to entrap Nathaniel gets murdered. All too soon, his reputation as a misogynist makes him a suspect, and Charlotte impulsively comes to his aid. Unfortunately, both are unaware that a highwayman interested in rich heiresses is following Charlotte, and that another debutante lies dead in Nathaniel’s carriage. Some nights just don’t go as planned. The Unwanted Heiress is a sweet, traditional Regency in the tradition of Georgette Heyer, full of fun, witty characters who refuse to fit the traditional roles set out for them. Add in a touch of mystery and you have a book that will keep you entertained and guessing.

  1. I’m not sure what to say about this book This was a bit of a strange story but I’ll have a go at describing the plot. The H is a duke who is chased after by every debutante in the ton. The author describes him having to check his carriage at night for debutantes trying to compromise him. When he gets home at night his servants have to check his room. I just found that it was a bit exaggerated. The h is a heiress with a passion to go to Egypt and take part in an expedition. The H doesn’t believe that the h isn’t chasing after him and…

  2. A wonderful romance When I was a teenager, romance novels were all I read. I’m pretty sure I owned stock in Harlequin. My second favorite reads were murder mysteries. The Unwanted Heiress by Amy Corwin reminded me of how much fun a good romance can be, especially when combined with a murder and a scandalous scheme or two.

  3. Pandora’s Platitudes Nathaniel, the Duke of Peckham is forever finding ladies in his bed, closet, study, and carriage. They look to entrap him into marriage. Charlotte is in sympathy with the Duke. Neither realize Charlotte is being followed by a highwayman. Charlotte is kidnapped. Murder, mayhem mishaps add to the mystery. The culprit is a surprise. Outstanding read while enjoying the patio , cool breeze and iced sweet tea.
