Updates to Writing and Reviews Website and Member Roles.
When something isn’t working, stop doing it.
This site is being built on the idea that through concentrated team work, the team can each and individually achieve professional and personal goals.
That might sound tricky, but if you think about it, and I did, it sounds pretty simple.
We all have our goals, professional and personal. As we walk the path that takes us to our goals, we meet like-minded people who are going in the same, if not similar direction. Some we’ll walk that path with for a short while, others will be us the rest of our lives.
This site is for a crossroads, a meeting place and a walking club (I’m staying with the path theme above). We’ll all move forward – be it a short distance or far – together.
Pretty lofty goals, I know. I opened the site and let anyone in.
And anyone did come in. Actually, specific someones came in and did damage while I was trying to do something good. I could let myself feel personally attacked for the experience, which I did for a moment, but I did what we all do, or should do – I got the damage fixed and am moving on.
With a new plan of security in place, we’re having to rework our membership plans. No longer will membership or the status of contributor be automatically approved. Instead, anyone who would like to become a contributor will have to apply by taking the first step and using the contact us form on the contact us page.
Those who are in the subscriber category will no longer have access to any member or contributor pages or content. They will be able to read and respond in the Forum, however subscribers will not be able to create new topics.
Members and Contributors will continue having the same level of access to content and the Forum. They will also continue having the marketing support supplied by Writing and Reviews to help grow their audience.
We feel lucky to have been faced with these challenges early on, while the “damage” could be considered minimal. With new processes and apps, plug-ins and widgets in place, Writing and Reviews will continue to evolve.
